How to Maintain Long-Distance Relationships at the Time of Covid-19

The past year has posted challenges in maintaining relationships. Whether with someone you’re romantically involved with or your friends, you must have felt the changes in terms of human connection. For sure, a lot of people already experienced the longest time to be far apart from the people closest to them because of the restrictions brought by the pandemic. Unfortunately, such setup continues and may still remain for some time.

So how can you nurture relationships during a  pandemic? Times may bring odd circumstances but it comes with a challenge for you to still make your presence felt. Here are some of the LDR tips that you should know.

LDR Tips to Maintain Sound Relationships with Friends and Loved Ones

Connect through Technology

Unlike the pandemics recorded in history, isolation is a lot different now since there are apps and platforms that you can use to connect with one another. Social media has made it easier to connect people even when far apart. Apart from that are the technological innovations like GIFs and various messaging apps that make communicating online less boring.

Communicate

There are different ways to communicate with a loved one and perhaps, this is what made this pandemic a bit more bearable for many. However, you should also work out a plan so that both of you can be more present. Make sure that the one on the other end of the line is also comfortable with the way you communicate. The key is to make sure that you are still up-to-date with each other. It also matters to be available for them when they are at their lowest points and need someone to talk to.

Plan together

The pandemic may be taking too long to be over but for sure, things will be back to normal in the future. Take this as an opportunity to plan for your next adventure or create plans for a dream trip that the both of you have long been wanting to make. Who knows but because of the pandemic, you might be able to save for a grand trip!

Live life outside of your relationship

One fact that you have to accept now is that you need to have a life even without your significant other or very best friends.  There are activities that you may no longer be able to engage in together but these are also opportunities to help you grow individually. Finding a new hobby at this time will also help you stay sane.

Stay thoughtful

There may be lots of occasions that you may not be able to celebrate together. Although this is normal because of the pandemic, this should not be a reason for you to become less thoughtful. Send simple presents whenever possible or even when there’s no occasion at all. Your time together may be limited so you have to be more creative. Don’t let distance become a factor that may get in the way of your relationship. A surprise care package, a favorite treat, or a nice bouquet of flowers especially during special occasions should help you make up for your absence.
